Trial and Error

Publishing has been both a dream come true and an adventure of gaining experience. There are so many twists and turns that I never could have imagined, but figuring them out and reading about others learning the same things makes it rewarding. My books are now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, and Createspace. I’ve actually held the hard copy of my books in my hands, which in itself is a dream-fulfilling experience. However, I never imagined what goes into formatting! Each site has its own specifications which turn out to be completely different from the other sites, so you end up with four completely different manuscripts. Spacing, font, font size, and tabs all have to be taken into consideration for each script, so it’s quite the exciting (and once in a while a bit tedious) project to make sure you meet the guidelines for each site. Then comes the waiting to make sure that you have met the specifications properly (the answer is usually, ‘no, try again’, and then you get to start over!)

But the most rewarding part is seeing people buy the books. My dream was always to have others read what I have written and hopefully enjoy it enough and relate to the characters that they want to read more. I’ve been so thrilled with the positive feedback I have received, and I am so anxious to get out the next book! I’m currently working on the second book in The Shadows Series, and I’ll be publishing book 3 in The Silver Series at the end of this month. It’s been so wonderful and I’m looking forward to more great experiences!
